Worlds Apart: 2.18: Father’s Day

Saturday arrives. Vince has the day off from work, but not Aoi. Will and Jay don’t have school on weekends. The traditional family breakfast starts the morning.

I was hoping Vince was still going to be in his midlife crisis and work on that this chapter, but that concluded at the end of last chapter. With that, today in-game, I will focus on Jay’s Mind and Body Aspiration. He’s about finished with it and then I’ll get started on another one. Jay needs to make it to level 6 of the Mental Skill to finish the Aspiration off. For this, I have him get on the computer and play math games for a while. Jay reaches level 6 around 12:30pm in-game time.

Good timing as Aoi walks over with a speech bubble of food. That means lunch time. Will gives up on wanting a motorcycle and has moved onto wanting a car. This kid cracks me up. I have Jay simply grab a sandwich for lunch.

Now it’s time to choose a new Aspiration for Jay. I give him the Playtime Captain Aspiration next. Once he’s a young adult, I am giving him the Detective career. This will help play a nice role in that.

Jay has already met the requirements for half of the first part. Instead of buying a splash pad, I’m sending the men of the house to San Sequoia. Aoi is already at work, so the guys can enjoy some time together.

Jay now has to become friends with three other children. He doesn’t have any relationships with other children his lifespan, so the next time he goes to school, I’ll use the option to socialize at school.

Moving onto the next day, it is now Sunday. I created a holiday for the Summer that is Father’s Day. In an earlier chapter, I created one for Mother’s Day. The only tasks are Bar-B-Que and Give Gifts. The family begins the day with breakfast together.

Around noon in-game time, I create a Pool Party event to coincide with Father’s Day and have Vince invite his dad, Geordi, and his two sisters over. They are still living in the Willow Creek house with Geordi. I was hoping the game would randomly do stuff with them, but nothing yet. And I am shocked Geordi is still living for how long he’s been as an elder. But I won’t complain. Everyone but his sisters started out in the pool together. Will begins complaining about the hot weather. Vince’s twin sisters were outside having an autonomously bonding moment.

Soon, it’s time for Vince to give his dad his Father’s Day gift.

Then it was grilling time. I think it’s great seeing three generations sitting together in a Sims gameplay.

After dinner, I have Vince make some root beer floats at the outdoors bar. There are two kids not old enough yet to drink the stronger stuff.

Vince ends the pool party with a gold medal status. And the Father’s Day event is a success.

The next day arrives, and the weekend is over. The kids go to school and Vince has work. Aoi has the day off. The traditional family breakfast starts the day.

Soon, it’s time for the boys to go to school. This will be Will’s first day of high school. As he is not the next heir, I will not follow him to school on his first day. I will for Jay when he makes it to high school. Jay looks more enthused that Will.

Not too long after, Vince heads off to work. While he is at work, another bodybuilder approaches Vince and offers him an experimental drink. I know this is not something Vince would try, especially at this point in his life. He probably would have as a teenager.

When Jay and Will arrive home from school, Jay bring home a classmate he met named Kaylynn Volkov. I’ll let these two hang out for a while to build their relationship.

Vince comes home with a pay raise. Good job, Vince!

Vince is in a Flirty mood but also has a fear of being cheated on. His midlife crisis is over, but maybe this is something that is still lingering on his mind. Perhaps talking with Aoi will clear his mind and put him at ease about it. However, the game also allows me to have Vince discuss himself cheating on her. He has done no such thing. I hope he hasn’t been thinking about it or done something at work I don’t know about. He is not confessing to anything. That drama doesn’t need to happen. He will still talk about his fears with her.

Later on, in the evening around 7pm in-game time, the family sit down to eat dinner together.

The next morning, it is the moment of truth. I have Vince making breakfast for the family when a notification pops up that Geordi, the Founder of this Legacy, has died. Each Sim got the dreaded phone call. They all will take a Bereavement Day. I have Vince go to the household in Willow Creek where Geordi lived to console his two sisters and pick up Geordi’s urn.

Around noon in-game time, I have the family visit the cemetery built for this Legacy. Unfortunately, it’s a rainy and gloomy day in Newcrest. I go in and edit stuff around, so Geordi and Xochitl are together. Then the family members each mourn Geordi.

Early evening hours, Vince and his family, along with his two sisters, have dinner together at his home in Oasis Springs where it’s summer weather. They all autonomously change into their warm weather clothing. As I have them grab meal together, they all sit down at the table, except for Cass. She autonomously sits in the living room alone. I think the game is showing she has her own grieving style and wants to be alone.

After dinner, I see Zoe autonomously walk over and give Jay a hug. She is the best auntie ever.

I am going to end this chapter here. Next chapter, Jay should be aging up to a teenager, joining his brother in high school.
