Part 8: Always with Me, Always with You
Rory arrives home with Pixel after much fun adventuring. It’s still dark out, so she goes back to bed with Pixel nearby keeping her company.
When Rory wakes up, she notices Pixel is no longer by the bed.
Rory wakes her dad and asks him where he put Pixel. Lucifer tells her that he didn’t put the stuffed animal anywhere. He’s been asleep all night. He asks his daughter if perhaps she left him in another room. She replies that she had set him right by the bed.
Rory checks her toybox to see if Pixel was in there. However, Pixel was nowhere to be found in the box.
Because Rory is a child, she has school. Lucifer tells her he will continue to look for the stuffed bear while she is gone. He has no luck himself. He felt bad even though he knew she was too attached to it. He thinks about buying her a new one, but she would know it’s not the one she had. Lucifer knew Rory enjoyed the playground, so he decides to take it further and build her a treehouse.
When Rory arrives home from school, Lucifer lets her know he has another surprise for her. She thinks he found Pixel. Lucifer takes her to his cabin property where they visited and she played on the playground with Pixel. There, Rory sees the massive treehouse. She thinks perhaps Pixel is waiting for her in it. Sadly, he is not there.
Rory didn’t want to play in the treehouse and asked to go back home. There, she hid under the bed covers and cried for the rest of the afternoon through evening until dinner time.
After dinner, Lucifer and Rory watched some tv. Lucifer put on the Kids Network in hopes that would cheer her up.
When it came time for Lucifer and Rory to change into their pajamas, Rory found something laying on the bed. It was a onesie that looked exactly like Pixel. She put it on, and she felt much happier. Rory hugged her dad.
The next day forward, Rory would wear her Pixel outfit into the magical tree that he had her take him to and they spent hours of time together. Each day she felt as if Pixel was there watching and protecting her.
