1.31: Toddler Tuesday

Babies in the sims world is very similar to babies in the real world. They don’t do much, but they are cute to watch.

They eat.

They poop.

They sleep.

And they demand all the attention as they see fit.

I still want to play on long lifespan to reach each of my sims full potential, but there’s not much to do with babies at this point. The lifespan on long for a baby is approximately 8 to 9 days looking at the Calendar.

Because of this, I’m aging up Hayward babies in 3 days time from them being born. NPC babies may still take the general 8 to 9 days.

The evening of Summer’s arrival, Brent has asked to come over and hang out. This is a perfect time for the 2 to meet. I wish they had godparents in the game that you could assign. Brent would make a great godparent.

I kept moving the bassinet around so Levi could Show off to…, but Brent kept waving his arms around with the red x over footprints. I gave up after awhile. Brent will get to see more of Summer as a toddler. If any one of my readers knows what I am doing wrong, please let me know. I’d like to show future babies off to in-game family and friends.

With the help of his wife, Levi was able to get some painting done on his second day off of work. The first day was Family Leave because his daughter was born. Now it’s his actual day off. He’s been slacking in his paintings, and Levi can’t be doing that. Not if he wants to be a Painter Extraordinaire.

His first one for the day is a medium impressionism canvas. “Is this Summer all grown up, Levi?” Very artistic.

Next, Levi puts together a medium pop art painting. He still needs to get 3 masterpieces painted. He’s also working on his level 10 Painting Skill, so hopefully he can reach the 5 masterpieces he needs by the time he reaches level 10 skill.

Is this another rendition of what Levi’s daughter could look like? Or maybe that’s suppose to be Spica? Only Levi knows.

The next morning, it’s time for Levi to pay his first apartment bills. 1,300 simoleons. I think he’s going to have to look into selling some of his paintings. But look at the mailbox? So much junk in there. I guess the Hayward family is going to be getting a lot of junk mail each week.

Poor Levi with that disappointed look. He went into work with all Needs in the green. But, in the end he had an average day. His work performance was Good, so it may take 2 more days to get that promotion. “Just keep working hard at it, Levi. You can do it!”

Now that it’s 3 days from Summer being born, I’m going to go ahead and Age Up the beautiful one to a toddler. Using the randomized dice, Summer gets the Silly toddler trait.

Goofy and curious. These Toddlers love to tell jokes and get Playful. They earn Imagination skill slightly faster.

Keep in mind that this will also influence Summer’s Aspirations as she continues to age up.

I bring Summer into CAS to give her a wardrobe makeover only as a Toddler. I liked the Stylized Look I used on Levi, so will do the same thing for Summer as a Toddler and as she ages up.

Summer received her mom’s hair color. She gets her short hair style from her daddy, tho. It’s too early to tell the facial features right now. I think we’ll see more when she ages up to a child.

Summer immediately became very hungry after aging up. So hungry, she got angry. So what does Levi give her? Outpost Popcorn Mix. I guess Levi thinks popcorn will solve an angry appetite.

But it worked. Summer first stared at the popcorn and then gobbled her first bite. From there, she ate the rest like she had just discovered a miracle food. Maybe she did.

Before Summer’s first night as a toddler was over, I wanted to get some whims in for her. The main focus is Levi, but when Levi is at work, I’ll play with Spica and Summer and get them doing their Aspirations and whims. Summer won’t get an Aspiration until she’s at the Child stage, but we can work on her trait and whims. I will also be making sure to excel Summer at her toddler skills.

One of Summer’s first whims is to Watch Levi. What better way to display that is to have her watch her dad paint. The thing is, Levi was doing a Flirty Painting canvas. Hopefully it’s not too flirty. I’m thinking Summer will find it to be a funny painting with her Silly Trait.

Since Summer was tired, Spica autonomously came into Levi’s work room and picked up Summer to bring her to her bed. Such a good mom.

The painting wasn’t too flirty in the end. But it does look like Levi tried painting Spica laying at a pool. “No time for relaxing with a toddler in the apartment, Levi.” I guess he can dream.

Levi and Spica spent the rest of the night being Flirty themselves on the opposite side of the apartment where Summer was sleeping. Ulterior motive. That’s all I need to say.

  • Summer is really cute 😍
I must say that Levi has become very focused on painting women πŸ˜‚

To your question. If you are going to Show off a baby to another Sim, make sure there is plenty of room to get around the bassinet. Eg. in the middle of a room. The “spectator” will stand behind the head yeast.
I often use that action and let my spectator take a picture of baby and parent while he/she is holding the baby. That way you can get a good photo of parent and baby. You get the best result with an expensive camera that can zoom in and out.

    • First he was into painting animals. Now the female. I wonder what will be next? lol

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try that next time there’s a baby in a bassinet. πŸ˜‰

  • Summer aged up into a very cute toddler. Glad you aged her up, because, yes, babies just eat, sleep and go potty. I did a challenge once, and to age them up, both sets of parents had to be good friends with them first. So maybe that’s a thought. The 3 days works, too. A lot of the paintings that Levi is painting I have never seen before. So, it’s nice to have a look at them. Also, glad Levi didn’t take the bribe. Their mailbox is filled with lots of junk fliers because they just had a baby. lol

    • All these paintings are cool lately. A lot I have not seen either, so it’s fun to keep Levi painting and see all the new ones available.

  • I really dislike EA’s choice to make babies like “objects” in TS4. At least in TS3, you could hold the baby a bit and do a few more things if I remember correctly. I miss the changing table and giving baths, specifically. It’s so much more realistic. I don’t blame you for aging babies up because there’s not much you can do with them. And toddlers are freaking cute! And Summer is adorbs! πŸ™‚

Outpost Popcorn Mix? What pack is that from? I don’t recall seeing it.

    • Yeah. I want pushable baby carriages and more interactions with nooboos.

Popcorn Mix is available in Journey to Batuu.
